Located on the southern portion of Tenerife, with a surface area of 42,04 Km 2, at an altitude of 600 m and with a population of 9 988, it is 72,1 Km by road from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

To the west, it limits with Arona, to the east with Grandilla de Abona defined by La Orchilla Canyon, and to the northeast with Vilaflor. Its rocky coastline features small beaches and also a short length of cliffs, but is largely level.
